Columbia sturgeon/salmon or Lewis River Steelhead
« on: June 19, 2011, 09:38:39 PM »
We're heading down to take our vacation in Portland with the Family.  For 2 years now we have fished with some of the guides on the lower Columbia and Lewis river a couple of the days.  Would kind of like to get into some big sturgeon, but we also had a blast last year catching steelhead and the year before catching salmon on the columbia.  With the water high, I worry that sturgeon might not be as good.  Any reports on sturgeon?  I'll probably leave the choice to the guide, but wonder how hard I should push for sturgeon.

I wouldn't try for sturgeon around Portland right now. River is very high.

Salmon would be a better choice. Shoot me a PM. My buddy is a guide and is getting some nice summer salmon.

Summer kings right now  Steelhead are just starting. Still lower numbers on them right now. Could still pick some up salmon fishing.

River has dropped three feet in recent days.  The sturgeon are there awaiting YOUR bait...

Sturgeon were good for since mid may. They are there to be caught.

Booked with Erik for Salmon.  He said steelhead are starting to pick up.  Sturgeon he's not too excited about.  Might have to book next years trip a little earlier in June to get the hogs.

Eric is a very good guide. He's good buds with my bud Justin.

It's not to late for Hogs. Eric got a 50# a week ago.
I probably hooked 20 this weekend myself!
