Vancouver wa. fishing advise
« on: June 24, 2011, 10:49:29 AM »
Ok so this will be the first i have been active in this fishing part of this forum. me and my buddy have been talking about going fishing for years and well just never really have. I love to do it but i am more of just the hunting freak. well we are finally going to do it, went out got my fishing liscence, have some gear and tomorrow morning we are wanting to pack up the families and make a day of fishing. looking at the regs there is alot to it. i have not really done it for years. where would be a good spot to go and do some trout fishing, we were thinking Lacamas lake? or yale? or is there any good fishing at like daybreak park? or horseshoe lake there in woodland? I am not a very good fisherman at all and would love any advise i can get. my 5 year old is always beggin to go fishing so she is very excited  :)

Thanks,
-Todd

kidney lake for trout... you can also try Icehouse.. good spot for little kids..
A hunt based only on trophies taken falls far short of what the ultimate goal should be, time to commune with your inner soul as you share the outdoors with the birds, the animals, and fish that live there”.- Fred bear

First slide on a 1/2 ounce egg sinker or bigger, a small bead, a swivel, a 3- 5 ft. of 4# leader and then a small egg hook. Get a few sorted colors of power bait, roll into a little ball around hook. Toss out into lake, prop in rod holder then once the lead settles take up some slack. Wait till the trout takes the bait...wait for it...wait for it. The fish usually hooks itself just simply pick up rod and reel.

Battleground lake or klineline is a good place for kids.
Yale res. is good. Swift is a jaunt , but pretty good.
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!

You could always head up to boneville dam, the shad are going nuts right now.

:) I went to a convention in Vancouver WA a couple years ago. Saw a little lake from the freeway right in town in a park. Found how to get to it and killed the trout, nice sized too!!

Good Morning all,

Well we ended up heading on out to Lacamas Lake and well it was a bust, a couple of bites but really should have had a boat. there were so many people, we hiked all around the lake to try and get away from the crowds but it is like they are attracted to fishing lines  :dunno:
thanks for all the great suggestions. we plan on heading out again to give it another whirl soon. in fact this coming weekend we will be in central Oregon so will try to do some fishing on lake billy chinook.

That's too bad about all the people and not catching any :(  Let us know how Billy Chinook is, I'd love to go back there and fish.
