220gr. roundnose sp remington core-lok @ under 200yrds works well. as a kid thats what i used in alaska. i've taken three with the 06. but the 2nd moose didnt drop like the rest. me and my dad watch him walk into a beaver pond with steam pumping out of his wounds hit twice, he was also over 65inches. by 17 i had a alaska 06 which is a Ruger M77 338 win mag. then dad was saying drop him at the track vehicle.

I sure hope to put an arrow through one this year, but if it comes down to it my 06' will be loaded with 168 grain Triple Shocks...

My favorite bullet for the 30-06 is a 180gr. Accubond!   Nothing wrong with either a Partition(old faithful) or a TSX..  At 30-06 velocity I'd no doubt go 165TSX over the 180TSX.

Well, if it was elk I,d take the 180 partition. But if it is Mr. Moose I,d load me up some 200 grain partitions with some IMR-4831 at 2600 FPS. The 30:06 becomes pretty potent indeed with 200 grainers.

180 grain core lock ultras in 06 will kill anything in the great U S of A with in 200 yards no problem. and with no follow up shot

I've always shot corelocks that's why I used a 175 gr 7mm rem. mag. Read this post on my Washington moose. I will never use a corelock on bigger game again.

I always shoot Nosler Partitions or better.  To me, they are the base line.  Sure, plenty of game has been dropped with CoreLokt ammo, and plenty more will be.  Put one of those into the boiler room and it's all over.  But.... as we all know, sometimes things don't happen exactly as we hope.  For those reasons, I want an advantage.  I wait 350 days between hunts, I spend a pile on gear, tags, time off, guns, etc.  Is it really that smart to then skimp on ammo?  Pay 1 dollar more per shot and shoot the best, most proven ammo for the game you are after.  If you are on a dime a dozen deer hunt, maybe the Corelokt stuff is ok.  But if you are in AZ, chasing strip bucks after waiting 30 years for a tag...  I don't think so.  Same goes for larger animals, and Ben's post is a perfect example of why.

The '06 will smoke any moose, but unless you can get a tag easily each year... why would you want to chase one under gunned?  You're either on a OIL hunt, or paying a guide a truck load of money.  I hereby give you permission to upgrade your arsenal.  338 Win Mag with 210 Noslers will do nicely!

Many consider moose easier to kill than elk.  Any bullet that works well for elk should be fine for moose.

Wife did fine with a 308 and factory 180 grain corelokts.  I took mine with 175 grain partitions in a 7STW.  Just put it in the boiler, pick your shot, they do give up much more easily then an elk.
