Bear Scoreing

Do any of you know where I can have my Bear scored.  I put a tape on him and got just over 19'' is that big enough for book?

There are a few scorers on the board and I am sure one will contact you or another member will steer you to a local one.
 
As for book? It depends.
It depends on what book and what weapon it was harvested with.
 
Either way, a 19 inch bear is a good bear.

If it was a rifle than you make the Washington book, but to small for B&C

Looks great, nice size. I think they use calipers to be official.

Im sure they do but the tape gets you a close score.

   great bear the best way to score a bear is with calipers!

Calipers are great, but most I have seen measured are with a slide type system.

Very cool.  Do they need remove low Jaw off and measure it way it sit. Because if jaw is on it make it 3/4" more.   

I don't know what rule in Wa if need keep jaw on or off to measure score.

Yes, you have to remove the lower jaw.   There isn't alot of room for error as you can tell as 2 inches seperates a "baby" and a record book bear.  19 inches is a solid bear.

Yea not much room for error when they measure in 1/16ths of an inch. Its pretty tough to measure it that close with a tape measure like you have shown.

My first and only bear (so far) was record book but it had some cracks from me screwing up so they wont take the score. Best of luck to you
