Fox in WA???

One thing about fox, there probably isn't an easier animal to call in with a rabbit in distress call then red fox, escpecially at night.  Much shorter time on stand for calling and when they come in they will be very skittish and hardly ever stand still for very long.  I have called in a ton of red and grey fox back in Missouri.  The greys can be treed with dogs, lots of guys run and tree them in Northern California.
 
 
 
I would have that one mounted in a standing alert pose to show off the great looking color, or a mid air pounce on a mouse would look cool as heck!

You should have it looking back with one paw up, as if its on the run.

i picked a mount where its coming downward toward you. itll look great! only a couple months till fox season starts back up. i cant wait!

Awesome job on the fox and good pick on the mount...a friend of mine has one like that he shot in North Dakota.  I've yet to get one, got me a bobcat but would love one of those guys! Good luck with your season when it arrives!

I would not be the one to ask about fox hunting in Washington.  However, I have taken a lot in AZ.  Both in competition and for a break during Javalina and Coues hunting.  I say "taken" rather than "hunted" because we were usually looking for cats/Bobbies as they score better in the competitions.  There were times down around the Fort Grant Penitentiary that we would wait for the fox to line up before taking a shot.  Hoping to get the elusive triple!  Got a number of doubles but was never able to get the triple play.  Came close with the bow a few times!  Offer the guards a chance to hunt with you and you can get access to some fantastic hunting close to the fences (pellet gun or bow only).

They were a pest when working cats as they show no fear and run up on you getting in your face and ruining the cat hunt.  After getting bit a few times we started carrying those miniature baseball bats the Mariners give away from time to time.  Those work great!

If I were going to mount one I'd have to make it realistic.  That means having it trying to eat a Mike Black double reed cottontail call. I hate those little vermin!
