Fox in WA???
« on: March 17, 2011, 12:12:39 AM »
I know we have fox in the state but is there any place that there is a viable, huntable population. I don't want this to be a honey hole location give away. I have seen red fox, do we have grey fox? What about the black color phased red fox in the San Juans, can you hunt them? Are there many animals? If not hunting them in this state what area would you say is good? feel free to add pictures of fox that you have got!

thanks

According to the Small Game Seasons page (66) of the Big Game pamphlet, the fox honting season closed on the 15th.  And is cosed in some areas and GMUs in the state all year.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I'm up in AK this year, just thinking of future hunts. Have to have something to do when its windy outside. I've had some really good fox hunting this year in AK and if I end up back in WA I would like to pursue it more.

I've seen some near Taylor Town south of Shelton, red.  All private land around there.  Good luck finding a place to hunt them on San Juan, if it is legal.

Threw hounds on rig. Find out if ur luck catch one in hole dig it out use flashlight see whats in hole.   :yike:  heard fox sometime climb if lucky right tree. I talked to WDFW four years ago and need check what area open because some place are closed. Pretty much legal. Raccoon, fox, and rabbit with hounds.  Heard fox  very tricky sport.  It should be fun.

GMUs 407 and 410 are closed to fox hunting year around.  GMU 410, on a quick look, I believe encompasses the San Juans.

That one doesn't look like he's doing much running.   :dunno:

I'd love to get a couple of those arctic foxes up there in AK.
