More wolf pics from my trapper friend who WDFW should hire to document Washington's wolves. This guy has got the location of numerous undocumented wolves figured out, just in his spare time. This is why we think there are 2 packs in GMU 105. Lots of sightings on the Northport (east) side and there are sightings on the Orient (west) side.Nov 3, 2011 wolf picture is on the east side of GMU 105 near Northport.
I noticed this wolf count hasn't increased for months now. I'm under the impression whoever (I think isDale) has given up on keeping track. All of the packs have their pups running with them now. The Lookout Pack had two pups that made it to grown up size so instead of the two, there are now 4. A month ago the two pups were just a little smaller than the female (mom) and tagging close. The male wasn't with them when spotted but I know a hunter that did see all 4 together. Multiple tracks have been seen in the Methow this summer many miles from the Lookout Pack but only one sighting was reported to me and that was up by Sullivan Pond in the Pearrygin unit. A bear hunter had 3 big wolves come in on him when he was calling in bear with his rabbit call in Sept.. WDFW seems to want pictures, scat and dna samples and even then they won't believe it till they trap one. By that time the pack has grown to 8 or more. It does appear they are stepping up to reports and do some checking, unlike 4 yrs. ago when they just turned a deaf ear. I'd say Dales count of 158 is still a ways behind the actual number.
i have hunted randle up by cyspus for the last three years and every year have seen more and more wolf tracks and sign last year i saw wolf chashing a doe thru the snow.
