A lot of people do just drive the roads up there, and it's easy to understand why that is- it's because Weyerhaeuser doesn't let anybody in before the season to scout. So everyone is forced to just drive around trying to find a place to hunt.

There's way too much area behind locked gates in the Vail Tree Farm that there is no way a guy could scout it all on foot. That's the reason I will never hunt there. I won't hunt somewhere that I can't scout year around.

That and the fact that 98% of those who "hunt" Vail are from out of the area and hve no desire to get out of their rig except to take a leak, crap in the road, glass the same clear cut as 20 other guys or dump their trash.  It is a good place to get shot at as well.  If anyone does hunt up there DO NOT TAKE OFF YOUR ORANGE, and wear as much above the waist as you can.

I always hunt Washougal and Battleground.  If I have not got a deer by elk season I will hunt in Siouxon while elk hunting.

Me too.
Got drawn for cow elk and second deer in Washougal.
Siouxson gettin hairy. The locals are gettin a little out of hand. Tryin to run people off. Thievin out of camps.

What do you mean about the locals? I haven't heard anything?   :dunno: :dunno:

My freind that I hunt with up there, caught some guys in their camp last year.
They said my freind was trespassin on private property--he was in the campsite 500yrds from 4 corners-- they said they didnt want city folks up there, and their chit was fair game.
My freind is from montana and needless to say , a butt whoopin blew in the with the wind.
He packed up and left, after a little excercise with the locals.
The camp below them had their cooking gear taken and their trailer damaged.
My brother lost some things out of his camp.
We day hunt up there, but we dont set up our camp anymore up there.
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!
