Bow string question

I've been learning to to make bowstrings the last couple months. I've always had an old string to work off of. And my question is what do you do if you don't? I know I have seen like a string blue print I guess you could call it. That gives you string length and serving placement and length. Is there a website or do you have to get that from the bow manufacturer?

I don't know about serving but most bow manufacturers have lengths listed on their web site.

Yeah I figure lenghts would be easy enough to find. But locations of servings for like the string stop or the rollers on the cables is more what im worries about. I know I've seen something in the format of (A,B)(C,D) and so on that gives serving lenght and placement

you could always put it on the bow the mark the string, then take it off the bow and serv it.

It would be obvious if you had the bow. Im talking like when you tell winners choice the year and model of your bow they know  exactly how to make a string identical to the factory string.

i would assume that they either order a string from the factory and use it to mirror. or they use the first persons string that comes in with a new bow and then makes everyone else's based off that first bow that comes in. if you kept track of every string that came through eventually you would come up with a good file of diagrams to work with. then all you would have to do is keep up with the new stuff that comes in every year. if it was me and i was trying to figure it out i would just go to my local range with my trusty measuring tool and ask people if i could take measurements of there bows. shouldnt take but a few trips and youll have most of the most popular bows figured out. then just start making diagrams of any string you make for a person. you might even hit up your local shop and ask them if you can measure strings for new models that are out. i dont see why they wouldnt let yah.
