Anyone else excited for chukar season yet?
« on: July 29, 2011, 10:41:31 PM »
Although the last few seasons have been banner years I am already itching to get out there.  Hoping for a dry spring from here out and a cool opener to give the dog and myself a break.  How many upland bird hunters are ready to go?  How do you see the season playing out this year for the different upland species in the state?

I am really hoping to hunt some chukars this year. I've been wanting to hunt them for several years now. This year I know right where to go. It will just depend on availability of time and gas money! And how my big game seasons go. So, yes... very excited.

I'll chip in for gas for a chance to go chase chukars.  I have never gotten one and have only sen a couple in the Lake Chelan area.

:yeah:

Must they be hunted with dogs? I've seen a few in Tonasket, but i was actually thinking about taking a stroll this fall in the more southern central areas, maybe even a wdfw area...

I'd check it out witcha Loki!

Heck ya I'm ready. Was driving through Yakima the other day and peered up at Yakima ridge. Got a chill up my spine. I'm ready to punish my legs and ego.

I grew up on the east side (Moses Lake) the only thing I hunt on the wet side is Black Tail in my backyard.  All my bird hunting is done on the east side and further east ie. Montana, the Dakota's and Nebraska.  Those chuckar were shot within a hours drive of you.

I'm definitely stoked.  My 2+ yr old setter is entering his prime, and I have several new areas I'm going to try this year in central WA.  I live for chukar hunting.

I will have to wait until November for my chukar/hun hunt.  If I shot better I would limit every time out.  The older I get the harder the hunt gets, but still more fun than I can describe.
