first time food plot

me and my parents are moving to a new house with LOTS of land :IBCOOL:and i think it would be cool to do a food plot i know nothing about them other than deer like them.i live in the westside and would like to attract elk and deer any tips on what to use or when to plant?

The elk and deer in the area I hunt are eating clover. You could also plant a small orchard of apple trees.
