Family member went out on a charter a few weeks ago and they got 110 for 9 people. Sounds like it has been spotty. I'm no expert just what I have read and heard.

I have been thinking of running this year with a charter and see what this awesome fishery is all about.  Any really good recommendations on a smaller charter 12-18 hour trips?  I want to get a group of up to 6 to commit and then schedule the trip.

I went out of Westport a few years ago and had a blast. We too were 110 for 9 folks. Only 8 fished. One poor feller layed in the bunk or on the floor puking for 2 days. Take your seasick medicine! I hauled in 17. It was a workout. I did notice, during research that year, that the charters out of Oregon ports didn't have to run out as far as we did. We went out 65 miles. For food and drinks, I took 2 three pound bags of ginger snap cookies, 2 PBJ's, a six-pack of ginger ale and a six-pack of Redhook. I took 1 swallow of Redhook and couldn't stomach anymore. A couple of weeks ago I was looking at some of the tuna schedules out of Westport and noticed a lot of the charters were already booked for the prime dates. www.salmonuniversity.com usually have good up to date fishing reports but, haven't checked this year. I'm glad I took that trip and would like to do it again someday.

Well, talked to Ribka today and we are heading to Illwaco for some tuna fishing on Sat. and then to Westport for some salmon fishing on Sun. He i making all the arrangements and I am driving and bring my camper for a place to sleep.
This will be my first time out for tuna, and I have never even eat frsh tuna before, so I don't know if I will like it or not  :dunno: but I am going fishing any ways.

Will report back on Sun. or Mon. how the trip went

This was going to be my first year also, was going to go with Advantage Charters, then I heard it's been slow this year so I'm backing out of it for now. Also I've heard sea-sickness can be a real issue out there, lol
You can't beat fresh tuna, especially for canning.

cohoho, I'm sure any of these would be good charters. I have used deep sea charters before. Link below.

I have no idea what size boat we are going on. It is a privately owned boat, not a chater.
Ribka set it all up, so I have no idea who we are going with, never met the guy, btu he is a friend of Ribka's.

Look for a fat guy on some sort of boat out there some where. Thats me  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I second the canning.  It is outstanding.  Not anything like you get in the cans at the store.  Much fresher tasting and not nearly as dry.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

Good luck! Went out last weekend out of Depoe Bay. Our first couple were around 20 miles, but we ended up with an 85 mile round trip. Been wanting to do it forever, an absolute blast. We were on my buddy's boat, lots of charters out there though.
