trappers dog

do any of you guys have a dog that you use on your
trap line and if so what breed is it.I had hounds for years
and would like to have a dog to go with me on my line this
year what do you guys think.

Yes it's a nice idea to have a dog with you. You can surly take him with you.

blackmouth curs and catahoula's out of hunting stock tend to be pretty good dogs to have around for utility purposes.

Your dog will have to be well trained,  If "it" gets in front of you sign can be compromised,,, 

I use one of my labs for rat den location in banks sometimes during scouting

Other lab for hazing purposes,,,

thanks guys I have been dolng some research blackmouth cur leapard cur or blue lacy they would all
be good and they would tree a coon also.

I used 3 of the German Jagdterriers for along time very good dogs and fearless. My brother would run them on Mt Lions and bears in Montana. I used them in My Nuisance trapping business.
They are kindof hard to find.

could you get in trouble if you had a coyote or a bobcat in a trap while you have your dog/hound there. from a game warden?

I would think not if the warden saw it in the trap. You might have to do a lot of explaining though if you had the cat in the truck after dispatch along with the dog.
Maybe take some pictures of it in the trap to show him how it was obtained. Worst case you don't need the pictures, then you post them here and brag up your trapping prowess. :IBCOOL:
