In need of some wisdom!
« on: August 22, 2011, 03:23:57 PM »
I recently purchased a used Savage 7mm for hunting but it didn't come with a scope.  However, the barrel already had pre-drilled scope mounts.  I decided to go with an Osprey Scope (many different reasons why but mostly due to low cost).  But once I got the scope home, I realized that the weaver (I think that is what they are called) mounts for the scope and for the barrel do not line up.  The barrel mounts are too far apart for the scope to attach :bash: .  Does anyone have any ideas other than getting the barrel redone?

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Nick

do you mean you could put the scope mounts on the barrel with no scope or the scope mounts won't even attach?

If you can get the scope mounts on it then go buy a longer scope.  Maybe a Leupold Vari-X I or something if on a budget.  I'm not even sure what an Osprey is...

you could probably paint a more specific picture for us but i think what your saying is you need a scope mount that drops back to compensate for a shorter tube.

It sounds like it's time to get a new gun.

That is exactly what I need!  This might sound dumb, but what is that mount called?  Is there a fancy name for it?

go into any real hunting/gun store and they should be able to hook you up. not walmart.
