Typically this is done with a long line and clips. It can also be done with a short leader and clips attached with no droppers to avoid tangling. If you have a dog or have to motor through the spread you will want 18" - 4' droppers to the main line. This is the best approach for the deeper water or individual lines on the decoys that are 25' long each. Just a lot more work. I have also done long lines from shore. Start at the tail end bird and clip towards the anchor. I attached a second line to the anchor and while my buddy held on to it, we would pitch the main wait out about 10-20 feet. The second line was to pull the weight back to shore. If you are in a boat or raft, drop the anchor and clip heading towards the tail. Leave enough to double anchor. Best of luck.
