My sight is brittle. Recommendation please.
« on: September 09, 2011, 07:59:45 AM »
My sight isn't rugged.
Last year, my fibers were busted after every day.  I finally figured to slip a baby sock over the hood to protect it while moving through the brush.
The sight has thin pins, with holes in the end.  An exposed loop of fiber optic curves in front of the pin and inserts into the hole.

Of course, the fiber breaks.  And this problem has to have been solved already.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a durable sight that can deal with Wetside bushwhacking?  If I walk into a bow shop without a better idea, I'll end up with the brand that is carried by that dealer, which may be less than ideal.

Any of Montana Black Gold sights.  They come with a lifetime guarantee on the sight body and the pins.  They are practically indestructible. :twocents:

Spot hog is a good sight, carried by lots of dealers, and a decent price

Thanks, all, for the suggestions.  All the recommendations look more rugged than mine.

I'm really diggin' this sight.  Sure-Lok has a bit better pin adjustment system, but that's the only down fall I can find.  And it kicks Sure-Lok's behind in every other way. Worth every penny.  I have one on a Sure-Lok slider that allows me to practice out to 110 yards.  Makes those 35 yard shots feel like a chip shot.

I got rid of every Spott Hogg I had (6) and now have three of the Tru-Ball Axcels.  Probably going to switch the squaw's two bows over by late season.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."
