300 inch bulls
« on: September 13, 2011, 06:00:59 PM »
 >:( >:( >:(     first of all this is a rant and is a good place to write this in my opinion. I have looked at pictures of bulls on this site taken in the last couple years and just dont understand how there can be that many 300 to 350 bulls killed. if so the record books should be just exploding with new entry's every year. i wish i had some of your guy's tape measurer's so i cant take them with me when i go sturgeon fishing. i see some people say there bull is 350 and there buddys bull is 300 right next to each other and there is no way. the pope and young book should be full after the last two years of archery seasons there shouldnt be any more room or paper left in the state to enter all the bulls that qualify. here are some numbers i crunched real quick to give you an idea of a 300-315 bull 1st 2nd and 3rd points 16 inches 4rths 18 inches 5ths 12 inches 40 inch main beam and 38 width thats 274 inches now add in the mass measurements and ive only seen a handfull of bulls on here in the last couple years killed that would come close to this and those are conservative numbers. thats giving a bull some nice tine length that alot of these so called 350 inch bulls you guys have killed in the last two years dont have. sorry guys to rant about this but if you dont know how to score something have it done instead of comin up with numbers that do not seem realistic. some of these so called 300 inch bulls must have a 40 inch long nose on them. i am not saying anything bad about any picture of any bull posted on here congradulations to each and every one of you guys great job in harvesting nice animals. an elk is an elk you cant take that from anyone but for god sakes if you cant score an animal please dont post a picture of a bull and say its 320 when in reality its only 280 or 290 and thats my  :twocents:

well I believe a person must pay to get their measurements made official for the books  :dunno: if thats the case some people just dont consider it that important to be listed in a book...

What does it really matter to you what someone says their animal scores?!?! Or what they say it scores?? Does it somehow affect your life in any way? Does it make work more or less stressful? Does it make your wife love you more or less?? Does it make you have more or less money in your pocket?? Does it make you sleep better or worse at night?? Does it in any way affect your happiness in life????
If you answered YES to any of these questions....Please seek professional help as soon as possible!!! If you Answered NO to all of these questions..... Stop your whining!
And if it really bothers you that bad....I want you to know..... Every elk I kill is 400"....Every Buck I kill is 200"....Every Bear I kill is 23"....I'm 12"....Every Salmon I catch weighs 30#'s....and I draw OIL tags EVERY YEAR!!!!
Now....Here are your  :twocents: back....plus I am willing to send you $.25 so you can call someone that cares!!!
Have a Nice Night!!! LMAO

ITs not the wrong place to talk about it, and it also includes 400 pound black bears and 180 inch muleys.    You will see some larger animals on here as this site attracts the special tag guys and there are some outstanding successful hunters on this site.   On occasion I try to reallity check a score.  Sometimes it bruises the ego a bit of theposter.  I try to do it only for a learning lesson to those mostly that are evaluating the animal, for instance youngsters trying to learn to evaluate scores.  I generally could care less.  There are those that take it to unscrupulous taxidermists, or their guides who try to inflate the score, the latter being way more common the first.  They have no idea really what their animal scores and I feel bad for them as they look stupid.    So, yes you are right, and no this isn;t a bad post.   In fact its a good one as people who shoot 300 pound bears, 300 inch bulls and 150-160 inch muleys for instance, should know they are indeed trophies or higher end animals.

Couldnt agree more.  Ive been Elk hunting for over 25 years.  Seen some really nice bulls killed.  I personally havent killed a NICE bull yet (over 300).  This is my 4th year hunting in WA for elk and Ive noticed that once a bull is down here.  The inches add up quick... :twocents:  Dont get me wrong.  There are some nice bulls in this state.  Ive seen them recentlly out in the woods... But Ive seen how SOME hunters, hunt up here.   You have to get out of the truck, beat the brush, look for sign.   Then find the animal you want.   :twocents:  I know when you kill a bull,  you are so damn proud of yourself.  You want to put more inches onto it.  I know friends that did,  then when it was measured.  They said "WTF?????"

Also If I shot a bull that made the book I would only do it if it was the world record or close. Why pay the money if you are at the  minimum to get in. Just to get it in a book? Not me.. Don't care that much..
If its brown knock it down
