Dakota Decoys
« on: September 16, 2011, 11:27:40 AM »
I've been looking at picking up a dozen of the dakotas and maybe even some full bodies. I was hoping to find the NON flocked heads but can't seem to find them. Not on DD's website or Rogers or Cabelas. Anyone know if they are still making the NON flocked heads? I just don't know if i want to deal with cleaning mud and crud off of flocked heads....

i think they are just sticking to the flocked heads now but then again im not sure cause i was trying to find some additional non flocked head ones  :dunno:. i did pick up a dozen of the flocked headed mallards though, love em. As for the geese, again a fantastic decoy...spendy but imo you get what you pay for with these.  :twocents:

I just read a review on Roger's that said they send you painted and flocked heads for the drakes. Was that how yours came? I sent emails to both rogers and to dakota to ask but figured someone here might know. I'm getting them either way i think.

Get a pack of socks and put them over there heads if your worried about the flocking getting dirty.  Other option would be to look at other decoy options.  I noticed that if you leave some of these new decoys out in the sun they change color.  I have some green looking decoys in one of my bags I noticed.
Cut em!

Well to be honest I wasn't super concerned, I know guys are using them and like them. My hunting partner is really the one that was getting me thinking about the flocking. I think is just assuming they'll get messed up. They couldn't look any worse than the hot buys that we've killed hundreds of ducks over that have been dragged through the boat, kicked around, and generally mistreated. I think i'm going to order one of rogers' slot bags for them. Just deciding how I want to rig them.

Well stop by and I will show you the Dakota's in both flocked and non-flocked as well as some fully flocked decoys from Body Language then you can decide what you want.  I can also show you the decoy line rigs I am making and give you a good deal on a few dozen.  Give me a call and I will show you the new Duck Shop.

order mine from cabelas, mine only came with flocked heads only. i have an avery slotted bag fits them perfect, cause there a somewhat oversized decoy (comparing to some otehr brands). The sock idea is a good one i know guys who pput socks over there goose decoys, idk about these duck ones, seems like a good idear though. to be honest havent used them yet, but from the reviews and just holding them the quality is very good. i wouldnt worry to much about scratching the paint or flocking off, even if you do you can buy new heads. i think they lok great from what ive read and just seeing them there quality is very good, read online randomly the flocing stays on very nice. no matter what youll be satisfied with what you buy :)!

Will do. I already ordered a dozen Dakotas flocked. But I am in need of rigging, and a trip to the duck shop. I'll call you this week.
