1st Elk
« on: September 16, 2011, 04:38:12 PM »
This is my first elk and I got it with a bow. 23 yds, got both lungs and clipped the heart. Took about 2 minutes to expire after going about ten yards and lying down. Yearling but he was the first legal animal I have seen since September 1st. A cow, I guess his mom, and then a crazy 5 by 1 bull my buddy was calling both came with in range.

Congrats on your first elk.  Feels good to get one under your belt doesn't it?

I have been hooked. Hours and hours of practice and thousands of shots and it was over within 15 mnutes of getting set up. He's not much bigger than the mule deer buck I got with a rifle a couple years ago but this was really something being that close and doing it with a bow.
