Ruger M77 rear tang saftey?? (30-06)
« on: September 21, 2011, 06:18:47 PM »
I just added a Timney trigger. Lots of stock work to get it to fit (still tweaking). But I think the trigger will be fantastic. While I have it broken down should I bed the action?? If so, what is the best way with the angled front action bolt. I know I have seen this before, but I cannot find it anywhere I have looked tonight. Pics would be great if you can think of a site.

This is with the original wood stock. I have a new scope on the way. Bushey 4200 3x9 (good price on sale!!!)

Brownells probably has a tech document and/or pictures on bedding a stock that you would find helpful.  They have a lot of gunsmithing tip sheets and help.  You also might find something useful on Youtube relevant to your Ruger.  Google Youtube for Ruger bedding or something similar.  Since you're going to bed the action, pillar bed it while you're at it.  Not expensive OR difficult and well worth the time and effort.  Pillar kits can be bought from Midway or Brownells for a few dollars.  Congrats on the new trigger.  I put one of those in a Ruger .25-06 I built a few years ago and really liked it.  Trigger investments are so worth the time and money, makes a huge difference.  Since that project I've learned how to reword the factory Ruger trigger, they're actually easy to work with and if you DO screw one up, they're cheap to replace.  Good luck with your project.

Thanks--Good Ideas. I hadn't considered pillar, will give it some thought.

I knew I had seen that somewhere before. I haven't been over there for awhile and forgot.
Thanks.

I may take you up on that.
