my sons first bear!! and a PIG TO BOOT!!
« on: September 25, 2011, 03:49:41 PM »
well my son's persistance and patients paid off for him yesterday evening. we have permission to hunt some private land with some old apple trees on the back edge. we have a stand up and my son has been hunting it hard sitting in the stand every chance he can get wanting to get a chance at what was leaving signs of coming in and eating the apples that have been dropping. well around 6:30 he called all pumped up saying "stuck bear, stuck bear" all out breath and exited.
we gave it some time and started to follow the blood. the camera pics were dark so we had to take some pics of it on the quad.. it was about a 15 yard shot and the bear went around 40 yards and was done. i do have to say when i walked up on it tracking it i was like  :yike: :yike: :yike:
:IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: he hunted hard and many hours sitting in the stand between early season deer and bear. i am very proud of him.

What a great experience for him, and you.  Congrats to the two of you.

When the ears look small and the head looks like a basketball that's a dandy!  One heck of a bear whether first or 21st.  I don't even know you guys and I'm excited with you.  That's fantastic!!
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

I think that's the "chunkiest" Bear i have seen on here this year, he's been eating well. I think the orchards maybe the place to be since the berries were so scarce early on. Apples and plumbs are the ticket. What an awesome hunt brother congratulations to you and the determination you showed. You won't forget about that one for awhile
