Leaving in Morning for Moose Hunt. What Not to Forget!
« on: October 14, 2011, 03:56:33 PM »
Hey Guys,

I am leaving tomorrow for 7 days to try and get my Cow Moose . Some of you have already filled your moose tags this year. I know you were probably out in the field and had forgotten something that you wished you would of had either during your hunt or getting your moose out. So I figured I would ask what that something may have been to make my hunt a little easier so I am not wishing that same thing when I am afield.

Your thoughts and suggestions are welcomed.

I didn't do moose but if I did I would make sure I had 2 or 3 buddies to help pack out.

rope, nobody mentioned camera, might want some memories. snacks, energy bars, a moose is huge by large & takes a bit to dress out. after being bent over skinning, gutting for a while, I like to take a quick break & eat something while easing my back. might want to bring young back & strong pair of legs to get it out too!

Just got back from a successful moose hunt.  Be sure to have lots of rope, game bags, a good saw, camera and a few small tarps.  The one thing we wished we would have had was a good knife sharpener.  Moose hide is tough!  We usually always have a whetstone in the hunting pack, but it was no where to be found.

Good luck on your hunt!

hey everyone.

well, we have been climbing mica the past 3 days. it is a brutal hike. We have not seen a moose as of yet. Saw a herd of elk and a few turkeys and a few whitetails. The only thing we have not seen is moose. Going to switch from Bow to Rifle now because we are not seeing any moose as of yet.

Any suggestions are welcomed!...
