Wounded segal end it or leave it
« on: October 17, 2011, 07:14:14 PM »
So I was in my normal spot when I saw something odd flapping around by a log. I looked closer and it was a wounded segal. Some Idiot had probably shot it thinking it was a snow. Now the question I have is should I have taken it out of its misery or left it. I decided to leave it but if that situation hapened again whats your opinion.

Kill it... It's the only thing to do in that situation.

Shoot it. It will die soon. Keep it from suffering. Saw a Yote that was 1/2 dead several years ago while pheasant hunting. Put it out of it's misery. Never fun but you got to do it. Just remember the Gamies may hold YOU responsible for killing it.

Cant' kill segals ( seagulls ) from what I know. Aren't they protected ? It would only take 1 greenie seeing it.

I would leave it, just cause the always annoy the hell out of me. The need to come off the no shoot list, there are more of them than pheasant.

I wouldnt shoot it for damn sure, not worth potentially losing my hunting rights.  Now if it was injured badly enough for me to catch it i'd break its neck  discretely. I know its still killing it but there would be less question if you ended it via hand then it would be via firearm if it came it down to it.

I wouldnt risk it one bit. There is enough eagles in whidbey, sooner or later that seagull would attract one of them.  :chuckle:
