On a side note;   The Gamie also told me that opening day was the single slowest openers he has ever seen in Lincoln county. Maybe this is the reason why?
The Game biologist at the stevens county check station said the same thing. Maybe it was more the weather than anything else??

Yes. A couple of years ago they found a dead one on the highway north of Davenport going to Hunters. The Gamie talked about that also. It was picked up and was by DNA found it to be a highbrid. I did not know that somebody was raising them and releasing them. What is the motivation in that? Why? What would be the purpose of doing that intentionally? Would a highbrid raised from a pup by humans have the ability to kill and hunt in packs?

From what I gathered it was some nut job who wanted to see wolf re-populate the state and had way to much time on his hands. Unfortunately yes I do think they would figure out how to hunt and kill in packs because I have seen pack of wild muts hunting and even taking deer in Stevens county

Is there any law about releasing ANY dog into the wild? If so, did he ever get busted?

Another loser did the same thing on the Orin/Rice summit in GMU 121 north of where you are talking, he turned all his hybrids loose. Neighbors have consistently seen them and I hear rumors they are being reduced in numbers as time goes by. On the other hand there are wild wolves in the unit too, a (dna proven) wild wolf was hit near Nine Mile on the Hwy. If they are hitting wolves on the hwy, you know there is many more in the bush, anybody with any commeon sense can figure that out. :twocents:

They've been there for AT LEAST 3 years.   I figured they were being replenished by the San Poil pack.  I wondered if they'd swim that river or not.  That I have never witnessed nor have any experience with.  I know elk do and have.  :dunno:

I have a personal friend that knows what the hell he is talking about and he saw one a couple years ago.   I've heard several other reports as well.

When I was younger with more time I spent at least 4 to 5 evenings each week all summer fishing Lake Roosevelt. We have motored alongside whitetail, mule deer, elk, moose, and bear swimming the river (lake). I see no reason wolves would not swim it. In Idaho people have seen wolves using bridges to cross rivers too.  :yike:

Weather was not a problem where we were. It Sprinkled a little on Saturday, but the rest of the time it was sunny and 60 degrees in the afternoon.

Yes, I'm 90% certain the WDFW recorded that wolf as a wild wolf that was hit. I'm taking the lazy route and not providing the link, but if you look around you will find it.

I assumed that about the river, but had nothing to substantiate it.  I make a habit of not talking with heresay, but with fact.   I am kind of chuckling to myself as many of you are coming to the realization that I wasn't making all this crap up.  In some ways kinda sad you guys are seeing more and more evidence of them where I have already found them.  There are alot more of them out there than the "counts" will indicate, I promise.

As the populations start butting into each others pack domains, its going to get interesting fast.  Pretty soon the only enemy these wolves will have will be each other and rednecks.

There have been several spotted regularly on the Inchelium side just south of the Ferry.   The native I talked to planned on killing them on site eventhough it is spelled out directly in his rules NOT TO.  Almost every logger I know over there has at least one gun in the truck and he figured they'd get nailed.

I have heard very similar things from peeps on the Spokane Rez aslo and most cattle ranchers I know are going to shoot them in the guts and let nature do the rest :twocents:

Yeah, we had a full moon also. I am sure they fed all night. BUT, in the years past, that has happen numerous times and I still could find quality deer during the day. Not this year. Let me tell you that under a full moon on an open wheat field is almost like walking through Husky stadium. You do not need a flash kight. So, in my opinion, the moon was not the problem.
