GMU 460 Elk?
« on: October 23, 2011, 12:00:46 AM »
Anyone had any luck pulling a Bull or a Cow out of 460 recently? I'm having trouble locating the mysterious herd around Hancock/Snoqualmie Tree farm. Looking for some Jedi master tips. Thanks.

There are elk out there. Most are on private property. I'm willing to bet nobody who knows where there might be elk on public land are going to say anything about it.

That kind of info usually means putting your boots on the ground and spending lots of time looking.

I haven't hunted 460 since the mid 90's but back then, I saw more elk along the middle fork of the Snoqualmie then I did on the tree farm. :twocents:
Good luck.

The elk population on the tree farm has exploded.

However

By the time elk hunting seasons rolls around they are all down off the tree farm and on private lands (houses). Only a couple will still mingle around on the tree farm.

Your best bet would be way up the middle fork snoqualmie. I scoured that area all summer and during September bear hunting. Or back towards the j-line in the tree farm, I seen decent sigh in August. But again most of the elk in the farm will be heading down into private land

I've spent my whole life hunting that tree farm up till hancock started charging 200 dollars per person. And I've watched that elk herd multiply over the last 10 years. I could only imagine how good it will be in 10 years
