Snow Geese with my Grandson
« on: October 23, 2011, 06:59:41 PM »

We had an excellent hunt for snowgeese last weekend so we decided to give it another go today. After some scouting on Friday after work and Saturday we were ready for anouther early morning to set out the decoys and hope the birds would cooperate. We knew we were on the x or real close but the morning started real slow. The first flocks were not committing all the way and we had to just sit and wait for the Snows to decide they liked our spread. Eventually they came through and at one point we had what seemed like a thousand birds swirling around the decoys and trying to landing right in front of us. Here is a video of the moment, hope it comes through....IMG_1522.MOV

We let these pass so as not to scare the main body of birds away. After they landed about 300 yards away we had good shooting with small flocks continually buzzing our decoys for the next hour. Ended the morning with limits for all of us  and one very happy 12 year old goose hunter!!!

That's what it's all about!!! Building memories.  I like the third pic down the best with a Californian snow in one hand and a Frazer in the other
