Another Blacktail down for the young man...
« on: November 01, 2011, 07:43:00 PM »
After two days of hard hunting and not seeing much but lots of other hunters a forkie makes the mistake of searching for a doe and Hunter puts the smackdown on him.
Kids were out of school for Thursday and Friday so we took advantage and hit the brush. Thursday I think I wore the little guy out by walking many miles...I kept telling him the truck is just around the corner and after about six or so miles I think he quit believing me  ;)
Friday we hit the woods and I let him make the choice of where he wants to go...we hit a clearing and the wind is howling in our favor. We watch as two does stand and watch a hunter walking below us and then they run off. He has a incentive either sex tag and was dying to pull the trigger but he held off...lucky he waited!
We head off down the clearing trying to avoid the other hunter and not interupt his hunt but he meets us at the road and decides to walk out with us. As we approach the end of the cut I spot a deer heading right at us at about 125 yards. I tell Hunter to get ready as I watch it in the binos. I can see that it has horns and is still coming right at us. Hunter gets his sticks set up and gets ready for a shot. The buck continues to about sixty yards and turns broadside and is looking around the clearing and sniffing the ground...BOOM! I see legs in the air threw my binos and deer goes down. Perfect heart shot!!!
Two Bucks two years in a row...makes dad proud.
