There are some 350 class bulls in there. High up.
We've seen 2 and never got within a half mile of them before the disappear.
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!

Good luck guys. I'm headed down right now with my dad (he has a tag). We will be camped down by Silver Lake in the campground on the hill. We saw a nice 5x5 last Sunday that we are hoping is still in the same area.

I believe I saw this bull in the back of your truck either Sun or Mon. Nice one.

I was scouting for a cow down there last weekend for my late archery tag.  We spotted a spike off the 4100, about 150 yards off the road.  We sat there watching him for around half an hour.  Do you think anyone with a bull tag in there pocket would drive by?  Heck no!  There were a couple guys that stopped, had bull tags, but for a different unit.  They got lost on the maze of logging roads.

Bummer deal, I couldn't even give a bull away...  :chuckle:

I bet a lot of people get "lost" in Toutle unit when they don't have an elk permit for the Toutle.

My raghorn 4x3 and my dad's spike from Toutle. Story will come later now that the site is back up, once I get some of this work done! Passed up the biggest bull I saw on opening morning and spent the rest of the week kicking myself. Anyway, meat in the freezer and a fun hunt (curse the weather). Long story to come later.

I hunt with 4 guys that are a bit older (65 to 74) and they got bull tags for toutle.  I got late cow tags (same unit), I went out to help pull elk/ scout for my cow.  We scouted hard and had many nice bulls patterned.  After deer season they (I do not know) started running helicopters breaking up the herds, and spooking them badly.  It was a bit of a kick in the stones because I started scouting the state land in July.  We still did ok but did not find the bigger bulls (5 to 7 point) again.  Good luck
