Bow during modern rifle
« on: November 03, 2011, 02:37:40 PM »
If you have a modern rifle tag, can you hunt with archery equipment during the modern rifle season for elk?

I ask because I was given permission to hunt on a friends, but the property is small and I haven't personally seen it.  The wife has, and I will get more details after I get off work.  But I do know that the property has other private property around it.  So I would obviously prefer archery equipment vs modern, but we have modern tags for elk.  Due to the wife just having hip reconstruction about 6 weeks ago, I am thinking this might be a better option for us.

Thanks, I couldn't find anything in the regs stating yes or no unless it was a firearms restriction areas.

Just remember to wear your orange...
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Yes, during a modern season for deer or elk, you can hunt with archery equipment or muzzleloader as long as it meets equipment restrictions. As stated, still have to wear orange.
