I hate hearing stuff like that. Miles had a bad incident with his dog a few years ago also. Dog got a metal pole impaled into its chest

That is a bummer. My dog hit some barb wire while out pheasant hunting on the west-side 2 weeks ago. Sucks not having your dog to hunt with. Couldn't even take her to N.D. with me. Bummed about that. She gets her stitches out on Tuesday so hopefully we are up in running soon, maybe even Wednesday with a wrap around the stitch area. See what the Vet says.

What a bummer. I know how you feel tho opening weekend for about 6 yrs we had a yellow lab that would rip his chest or leg open on barb wire. Out of commission for a few weeks every year. The vet always knew when it was pheasant season when we'd show up. Hope ur pup gets back out and in the field soon.

I feel your pain, its been over a week since my dog got ripped open. Yours looks a little better than my dog, it was about 4 days before they got the wound completely sealed up, still has a drain in it. The worst part is having to keep her cooped up all day, silly dog doesnt realize shes hurt and wants to get out to play. Even though her season is over, I'm already looking forward to hunting with her in the future.

Wow, sorry to hear. Good luck with the recovery. As a side, I am a huge proponent of pet insurance, especially for a working dog. Our pup just turned two and our insurance has paid for itself four times over.

 My days off are mid week, and I hunt with a pointing lab.  If you can deal with that we should hook up for a day.  I'm thinking of heading your way Tues or Wed this week.

lost my sons lab in a draining ditch a couple yrs ago. its a long story. best damn dog Ive ever been with hands down. glad to see you get to go hunting with her in a short while.

Wow- my simpathies and prayers for fast recovery.  Similar thing happened to my daughter & I with my britt several years ago.  We were hunting Willow Bar on the east side when after my britt came out of a thicket, I noticed he had lots of blood on him.  Turns out he split his tounge somehow & his tounge resembled a snake's tounge.

Needless to say- off to the vet we ran- seeing roosters all the way   My britt continued to hunt on the way back to the truck too!

Anyway- after the vet stiched him up (great guy in COLFAX), I assumed the hunt was over.  Vet said- let him rest the night & take him back out the next day.  Sure enough he was raring to go & we bagged some huns the next day

That britt is gone now, sadly, but have another who while distinctly different is a bird finding fool too.

Wow Ross that looks terrible.  Poor dog.  I bet he is getting the royal treatment right now.LOL Hope he makes a sppedy recovery for ya.  John

Well I got him out on his first pheasant hunt after the injury and he did great. We shot a bunch of birds and he didn't seem to be sore from his injury.

Sorry to hear that.  I loved looking at the pics of your success. I am sure he will work extra hard when he is back on his feet.
