Gotta work tomorrow but I got a free pass for turkey day, can't wait. Missed all of early archery so this is my opening day. Snow level is supposed to be back down to 2500' and thats about where I'm headed.

We are heading out Thursday night... we will be hunting elk over in the "blue forest" of the Nile.  chomping at the bit here... Might have to get out here this afternoon and try to whack a blacktail.....

Good for you for holding the rules firm even if it means you lose time out in the woods with him.  Wish more parents had that kind of fortitude.

Good luck if he shapes up and you guys get out.

Didn't see hair-one this weekend. I can't believe the number of trucks just driving the roads in the Winston unit - like a rally or something. We went off into the timber and found lots of fresh stuff. I somehow don't think you have to go very far in to find elk with everyone driving the roads.

Funny thing - We were checked by a gamie up there on Saturday. We had just come out of some really thick jack firs and blackberries. I had cut up my hand pretty good with the thorns and had blood running down the back of it. When I handed him my license, he got real alert and started asking a few questions about where I got all the blood on my hand. It took me a minute to figure it out. Nice guy, very professional. Wished us good luck and sent us on our way.
