Any good places for pheasants around eburg?
« on: December 01, 2011, 06:04:14 PM »
I was planning a trip way east with some of my buddies this week but plans got changed. apparently the chain can only go so far :chuckle: and they can't be gone as long. so we decided to hunt around eburg vantage area. i have looked on the maps but really don;t know any areas we will find birds. We are gonna give it a go but if you know a area you want to share feel free to pm me. Thanks.. I have some elk roasts I could give if I get a good spot.. :)

The pheasant population in Ellensburg is almost non existent. Cooke Canyon Hunt club has birds if you want to pay. Otherwise, I'd keep driving to grant county.

There are actually quite a few pheasant and ton of quail around Ellensburg, however Ellensburg is filled with small farms and ranches that are all private property.  They do release birds on Derr Road in the Umptanum (pheasants and chuckar) but I don't know how good it is.  Unless you can get on private property Ellensburg is pretty difficult for birds.

They don't release up durr any more. Just out at Whiskey dick, but the cover is so poor out there.

Recently, I passed a truck loaded with pheasants heading north on durr Rd as I was leaving, sure looked like a release site.  Did they stop it all of a sudden?

They started doing it at the cottenwoods site which is closer to selah than eburg. I think that its technically on sheep company road. What day did u see that truck?

It was likely at that cottonwoods site (I have never heard of that site name, but it makes sense), it was before thanksgiving and right at dark, I was almost to the cattleguard leaving the wildlife area.

They dumped there right around Thanksgiving(sheepcompany). I got about 9 birds at my house for a day, then they were gone.  The birds scattered QUICKLY
