unbeliveable ,nile cow
« on: December 06, 2011, 07:23:31 AM »
D- rock and I were hunting nile and little naches me, deer and elk. Darren for deer. I hunted 4 days in the nile at a creek crossing saw elk each day but one , 12 total. On the forth day I was going to hunt deer with darren but decided to try for elk one more day at the crossing.I sat down across from my spot, because the elk had always truned to a different trail at about 60 yrds out.As I sat reading a Louis L'more , a huge cow just about trappled me she truned aout 10 ft away.AS she truned she went in to some thick buck brush 6 to 8 ft high, instead of her making the crossing she trapped herself behind some beaver dams,I made a move to see if I could  get a shot as she came out.I walked up the gravel bar about 40 yrds and saw steam rising be hind a log in the creek range finder at 27 yrds, there she was, heres the good or the bad, I' m sure there will be critics. I was at full draw ,knew I saw going to kill this elk, just then she she jumped about 6ft up and  and out  of the beaver dam striaght away went to 40yrds .I was on her the whole time and knew the yardage ,she stopped, I shot. Texas heart shot my frist ever in 30 years. Abousutley devasating, unbeiveable blood trail. She went bout 40 yards.300 hundered pounds hanging
I'm not afraid of anything, and that scares me.

Sounds successful to me.  I do wonder how many folks miss one inch to the left or one inch to the right and have an arrow sticking out of the ass of the animal.  I'm pretty sure they won't come on here and tell their story. :)   Congrats on the future  :cue:

That shot we call the Matt Wheel up here... for those of you who know Matt you will understand!  LOL  My buddies son (10 yrs old) shot a nice 3 point buck this year, it jumped when he shot, and he "Matt Wheeled" it... died right there.  SHot went in and spined it also.  Congrats again, I hope you made Darren pack it out for ya.

yes I put darren to work, he messed up and just got out of the shower when I carried out the heart and liver, also another bonus was the arrow hit high center and was not gut shot.I just looked at antomony of elk and there are many artereys in the anal cavity
