I have a problem
« on: December 14, 2011, 09:45:49 AM »
I like guns.  Okay, I love guns.  I think about them most of the time.  I currently own ten but that is not enough.  I do not have enough money to buy all or most or even some of the guns I want.

Too late to marry money, too busy for a second job, too nervous to rob a bank.

Maybe I should found a twelve step program.  We could call it G.A.  "My name is sticky and I'm a gunaholic."

I feel your pain....and I have two aspiring gunaholics as well. Three times the problem, except when they get older, we can all share the shooting.

Ha, ha , ha! That's one way to solve the problem. Might as well get a little return while funding the addiction, or at least break even. :chuckle:

Ilike the ones no one else likes. The odd balls. You cannot have to many guns.

It only looses its value if you tell someone it has been shot before you sell it.

We definitely have the addicts for a big time social program.  Maybe President Obamama will pump some gov't money into Guns Anonymous and we can have cartridge exchanges and take gunadone or methagun.  It will be awesome.

I thought all guns were test fired before they left the factory? Therefore, is there ever a true "never been fired gun" that is sold commercially?  :dunno:

I have guns I've never shot and I have several that don't even work.  I have separation issues when it comes to guns.  I have never sold even one.

What good does a gun do sitting in a case!

Wife bought me a Benelli Pacific Flyway edition sbe    Guy at the shop shook his head and chuckled every time I came back in that shop... Couldn't believe I actually hunted with it.
The investment has paid off in lots of ducks and geese... oh and some pheasant too.... but I usually use a 20 for that.
Just sayin....

:yeah:  I have 4 guns, hunting rifle, 870, little NEF 20 gauge, and a henry .22, use them all, all have signs of abuse.  Not saying I don't want more, cause I do, and I would like to get another .22 so I don't beat the crap out of the henry in the woods.

my wish list has grown so long, its hard for me to even keep track. Anytime I see a new model, or varient of some sort I have to have it, and on the list it goes. Impractical guns included, as well as the seemingly unattainable. I even want to buy guns that I have no intention of ever firing...my girlfriend used to think it was nice for me to have a hobby, then she saw that the only 5 bookmarks on my computer were hunting/gun related.

I've been addicted to guns since my first try.  I couldnt escape them, they were everywhere I went. In all my favorite stores, my friends were doing them, and my dad got me started at a young age.  I even try to find money to get more, sometimes directly lying to my wife about why I need them and how much I spend on my habbit.  My addiction is so bad I feel I am close to overdosing.  PLEASE HELP ME!!!  :yike:

It's a hoarding problem.  Guns and ammo, though at times I am successful at getting rid of the ammo...but I just seem to replace it all and have the same problem again.

It's funny when it comes to "unfired" guns.  I used to laugh at guys that bought a gun (production, not commemorative) only to let it sit, but I picked up a little Winchester 12 gauge pump defense gun last year and I still have yet to shoot it.  Planned to plenty,  just hasn't happened.  Weird.

My wife actually comes with be for final approval now. Apparently she did research and found out my 300 dollar gun came closer to 800. When I told her I found one for under 300 she didn't believe me. When she saw what I wanted she knew the 2 extra questions. "How much are you going to spend on stuff for it," and "how much is the ammo going to cost." She catches on quick!  :yike:

When the spouse or significant other gets involved, it requires immediate action.  I recommend giving said female a new, relatively inexpensive hobby, such as scrapbooking.  When you buy a new gun, buy her a new set of scrapbook stuff.  "Thank you sweetie, what a surprise!  You are so considerate!"

Me too! Although I am starting to realize this problem can spread very rapidly. After a purchase of my first gun older than me I has a strong pull towards reloading and making my own bullet (that's right, casting and rolling my own!) I can only sit in anticipation of what symptoms develop after I do all of this.

My friends and neighbors always tell me I have a problem too.. its an addiction. obsession whatever you want to call it. Im 26, been shooting since I was 4. I have 16 guns in the safe right now, but i am constantly buying selling and trading. If I had never sold a gun I might have 100 in the safe. I almost bought a back-up bad weather rifle the other day with iron sights in .30-06, but I decided it would only cost me $50 more to build an AR upper in .300 blackout so that would be my bad weather backup plus its more fun to plink with than a bolt gun. I keep trying to figure out how to get more money to feed my habit lol. Hey but at least Im over 2yrs sober.. Quit one habit and get heavy into another I guess

I've done it again. Went to the gun show in Centralia and next thing I know there's a pretty lil Rem 7mm mag riding shotgun on the way home.

It just kinda happened.

You all think that you have a problem with too many guns. Several years ago my son worked as a trapper at the Kenmore Gun range. There was a man that spent most of his time at the range that decided he wanted to move his residence from Lynnwood to Kingston. He hired my son to help him with the move. My wife and I went to assist our son on the project. When we started to load his guns into his car we were flabbergasted at the number of guns that he had. He had one of those old station wagons that were a city block long if you know what I mean and we put the back seat down and started loading the guns. When we finished the pile was up to the level of the windows. I have no idea how many guns he had. We spent 2 1/2 hours retrieving some of them from the attic. That was quite a project.
Good luck on all your efforts to increase your collections.

My wife tried to buy the hornady zombie rounds  :chuckle: She never tells me I bought too much ammo. We can go through 650 rounds in a matter of a afternoon at the range. Just got her CPP so I think there's a 4th gun in the near future.   :IBCOOL:

Wow. A station wagon full o'guns. That's a full blown addict there. I'm sure that a gun shrink would have a field day with that.

What's a gun shrink? Sounds like some sort of medieval torture device!

A gun shrink is the Dr with whom your wife is plotting an intervention.  One second you're on your way to Cabela's and next thing you know you're in a room full of your family, friends, and a gun shrink.
