Best choice for a holster for a M1911

What would be a good choice for a holster for a M1911 ??  Some thing I could use when I go hiking.

I like my blackhawk holsters, especially for hunting or hiking. Your trigger is covered, latch system works well and easy to use"gun wont fall out if you un-buckle your pants".  The holser comes with a pattle or belt thred thru type of adapter.  And it is made of plastic so if it rains your gun is not stuck rusting in a leather holster.

Ive used many different types and for me, hands down for my 1911's I have settled on Raven, esspecialy when it comes to concealed carry and when packing a 1911 with a tac light attached. I still use a Galco every now and then but the Raven is bullet proof, fast. The Raven can be carried inside or outside the pants with a simple accessory change. They had a faster delivery time when they first came out, the last couple I ordered took 14 weeks for delivery but well worth the money for a rugged , quality, professional system.

Outdoor open carry on the Wetside, I use basic Uncle Mikes nylon.
Simple, cheap, dependable retention and positive access.
And it dries the same each time.
Has worked for me for years.
I have had rub marks from using stiff plastic that rely on tension to secure the firearm.  holsters that got a little dust/grit inside and the pressure of sliding the piece in the holster abraded the finish.

Wear marks are enevitable with any holster with any handgun, esspecialy when one carries all the time and the handgun holster combo is constantly in motion, in out out of vehicles and such. Stainless handguns or slides reduce the apparent wear but it's still there upon close inspection. I purchase my handguns to be used, I'll jam a 2k 1911 in Kydex as quick as I would a 500.00 Glock. My safe holds no " Queens "

for IWB i use a gote (maybe spelled goat), either way it supports the weapon great and it doesnt rub during hot weather. it uses pressure from your belt to help keep everything in place but the plastic in the holster can be heated and molded to the weapons shape, i put the holster in my oven to get it soft then put my kimber in the holster applied pressure and let it cool with the pistol in it. my pistol doesnt move around when im walking and is still pretty easy to draw.

for OWB i use a cheap Uncle Mikes, but i hardly ever carry OWB with my 1911

I use a kramer iwb holster.  kinda spendy and it takes a bit to get them but it is hands down worth every bit.  very comfortable and very precicely made.

When Hiking and hunting I carry my 1911 in a Blackhawk drop leg holster on an unclemikes duty belt.  This way it says out of the way of my pack waist band and is still on my hip if I take my pack off.  For concield carry there are a million options that will depend on the way you dress.  I like an IWB holder on the strong side 3 o'clock for me.  9:00 for a lefty.  I try to avoid SOB carry due to how easy it is to sweep your vitals during the draw stroke.

I have three, one on my pack (beltloop), one on my Monster fanny pack (beltloop), and one to throw on whatever I am wearing at the time (paddle). They also sell quick-disconnects so you can use the same holter on many locations.

With this holster you don't really feel the weight. Order it for your 1911 and if fit's. Slightly spendy but worth the money in my opinion. I find mine to be the best choice I ever made. Also great to wear while driving, never in the way. It doesn't conflict with my backpack or daybag straps.
