Wenatchee river help

Anyone Having any luck? Fished it hard yesterday with jig and bobber. Any tips on how deep I should be fishing? And what type of water I should be looking for. Having a real tough time knowing what sections of the runs to hit. Any tiPs would be greatly appreciated!!! Fished black and blue jigs as well as pink and white.1/8 oz

Try smaller jigs. Black/red  black/ chartreuse  blue/white.   Just have to mess around with the depth. I have caught more fish with my jig a few in. from the bottom.  Sometimes the slower water in-between runs produces good.

Slower water is good when its cold out and the water is cold.  To start, a general best is if you can find water between 4-8 feet  that is walking speed.  Fish your jig 1' from the bottom.

What is the water temperature?  Cold water means the fish hit the bottom water column and slower water.  Weeks ago the water water at the Grande Ronde was 38 and they were at the bottom of the deep slower moving water.

Not sure what the water temp is. But maybe I should focus on slower
Moving water. How do you read that type of water?

With a float and jig I try and stay no further than six inches from the bottom with white/orange or pink jigs and the lightest leader I think I can get away with.

Wenatchee's been real slow, if I were to hit a smaller river, it would be the methow..its froze across at the mouth, but fairly good fishing up higher...small black jigs...or swing all silver blue fox's ...#4 size...good luck.

Thanks for the info. Will try getting closer to the bottom. Hopefully will have more luck!

my most productive set up on the wenatchee has always been 1/8 oz jigs, red/orange, black/red or purple/pink color combos on 15lb mono leader under a bobber. slower water seems to produce best this time of year and try to keep jigs 6 to 8 inches off the bottom

Slower water, do you just try and find the seams or the deepest spot?

Fish it all, from the top of the run to the tailout. Steelhead are predictable but sometimes you'll get one that "shouldn't have been there". Fish thoroughly, starting close to the bank working your way out.

As far as jigs, almost all color combos catch fish. The key to fishing jigs is fishing them right. Meaning a completely drag free drift with the jig riding above the bottom and paralell to the bottom. I have caught a few fish dragging jigs on the bottom but your better off with it 6-8-12" off of the bottom. I have also had fish in 4-5' of water come up and take a jig 18" under my float, but the majority of the time I'm trying to bump them in the face with it.
