out of state elk hunts. what are your plans?
« on: December 17, 2011, 07:49:32 AM »
I know a lot of you guys put in for out of state hunts every year.  I thought it would be cool to see where people plan to put in for or plan on hunting in 2012 for elk.

First off this new year I have to find a more dedicated hunting partner (my current hunting partner has found that being a small bussiness owner has left him no time to hunt) I would like to hunt Idaho for Deer and Elk and maybe Wyoming for speed goats.

 :yeah:
Non resident fees have been increasing, in some states bordering on the ridiculous for the average hunter's budget.
I used to hunt OR but now every other season...maybe.

This is the first year I am going to start to really putting in for out-of-state tags, permits and points. For elk, I think I should draw Montana, and put in for points in Colorado and Wyoming.

NM and AZ for sure. Probably the Gila National Forest due to their ridonculous size and low hunting pressure.

I got a buddy who has private property access near where the Spider Bull was killed in Utah. I will pursue that if I don't get drawn in AZ/NM. There's always the farm in WA I can buy an OTC tag in.

Points in WY.  I live in NY currently so going to WA is technically out of state for me :chuckle:

Wyoming - elk and antelope
Montana - deer, elk and antelope

If not drawn in Wyoming then we may do a Colorado 3rd season OTC elk.
