My 2010 Kitty
« on: December 29, 2011, 09:09:52 PM »
Hunting for yotes in the snow down in Oregon Wilson unit on new years eve day 2010 I cut this guys tracks in the snow, he walked it for a ways then went off it, I kept driving where the road looped back down below where i first seen the tracks and he had popped back out on this lower part, I decided to get out and walk them and he went down another spur off that road which I followed and coming around a corner caught him in the middle of it, got lucky and probably will never happen again, he took off fast after hit and ended up in the bottom of a craphole and had to go home that night and find a buddy the next day that wasnt to hung over on new years day and help me get him out, RyanD officially scored him at 14 8/16, and he weighed 143 lbs.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

Nice!  I'm still waiting to see my first one, let alone shoot one.  I still buy the tag though...

Congrats!  You just saved 52 deer!

Nice cat!

That kinda scares me that cat is only 143lbs. The cat I shot in colockum a few years back was a good 1/3rd bigger. I bang my head every time I think of blowing that shot. but im so thankful when that wounded cat jumped up 5ft away that he ran away from me and my buddy and didn't attack  :yike:

Beautiful cat! Did you rug it?
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

Thanks guys for the comments.  That's crazy bankwalker, 5 ft!!!!  Your lucky you got a shot off period, that is scary!  To bad you didn't drop it there, but lucky to be here huh?  I never knew a animal in this world could move so fast tell I seen a lion move in real life.  Deer and Elk you could maybe get a shot off at them running in the timber, a lion would be hard in a open field.  You see things on t.v. but nothing like seeing it in person, unreal how fast they are, luckily mine wasn't moving when i shot but was gone in a second after the shot.  And I would have ate my hat if that thing wasn't 200 pounds when we was packing it out, but I hung it from a scale and even tried my weight on it, smaller than I thought.  FC its getting a full body done on it right now, hope it turns out.

Way to go! I think that you did something kind of rare, killing one without dogs tracking it. I killed one quite a bit larger than that one at 30' that was stalking me. It is a special hunting memory that you will always treasure. I came up on a very young one over Thanksgiving weekend this year in the snow and photographed it. When I went to it's tracks, I saw a larger set of tracks in the snow which I believe were it's mother's. Never did see her but she was very close to me. They rarely show themself and you were fortunate for your circustances and you made the right decisions at the moment to get the job done!

Great cat!
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Nice Kitty Kat!  Can not wait to get my first one.  Seen them in the woods many times, but never got a shot off.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Nice cat!! I like the fact you had to find a buddy who wasn't "TOO HUNG OVER" :chuckle:
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.
