just shot my new tikka t-3 in 26-06 and wow, it was great. accurate and light.  i hit a 4 inch bullseye at 100 yards in six straight shots. it was a great experience.  now i need a 40 xdm.  mike w

Ha I bet that rifle can shoot better than that! You just need to augment your 70 year old eyeballs with some good glass! 

What load are you shooting in it and what are you planning on shooting with it? My Dad has been eyeballing a 25-06 himself but the light-weight of the tikka makes him a little whiny about the recoil  :chuckle: , shockingly my suggestion that he use a little more padding in his mangina didn't seem to help any.  :dunno: :chuckle:

tikka's are awesome, if it doesnt do all that in a 1" bullseye Id send it in...

there is very little recoil which was surprising.  i shot 75 gr bullet with varget and  a 110 accubond with rl 22.  the rifle was under $500 but the scope was about the same.  it is a leupold boone and crocket.  most of the problem is my right eye is 20/100.  i have tried shooting left handed and it just does not work.  mike w

Bummer about the eye, can the scope not focus far enough for you? If not you might be able to cheat enough with an adjustable objective scope.

That 110gr Accubond on top of RL-22 makes for bad deer medacine. :tup:

what is an adjustable objective scope?  i hope i have one on my scope and i hope it will help my eyesight cause i barely see the 4 inch target at 100 yards. maybe i should get a banana clip wit 40 rounds on automatic, oh is it not legal.  shoot!  mike w

what is an adjustable objective scope?

A parallax adjustable scope like this one http://www.opticsplanet.net/nikon-monarch-3-12x42sf-riflescopes.html where you can adjust the focus on the other end (objective end) of the scope, not necessarily this exact one of course but the added adjustment may well help you a lot. Ask some of your friends if they have one for you to look through and if not you can always look through one in a store. Just experiment with the objective adjustment and see if you can find more of a sweet spot where you can see clearly.
