40 or 45 xdm

i got a 45 xd been real happy with it. but downside is really hard to conceal "comfortably" i have to pack it like an o.g. in the front of my waist or open carry it.

Depends on use of the gun. I carry a XDM 45 auto after carrying a Ruger Super Redhawk 44mag. with a 7-1/2" barrel. I wanted to replace the heavy revolver and still shoot heavy weight bullet.  I reload so cost is not a issue with me. I must the trigger is a little different then I am use to but after shooting the XDM with my reloads I am shooting quarter size groups with it and having fun. Like said in earlier post you need to shoot both and see what fits your needs.

FN, For Fabrique Nationale.  P is FN's model designation for the .40 Cal. pistol.  The FNX-9 is the new version of the FNP-9, with 17 round mags instead of 15 rounders in the FNP-9, and some cosmetic changes.  In addition to the hammer, I also like the decocker/safety, and the double-action capability, and the ease of changeing the backstraps.  The Loaded Chamber Indicator is a part of the extractor, but works pretty much the same as on the XDs.

I've not shot the XDm version of the Springfields, but I have tried the trigger pull in both.  Some say the M's trigger is better, but I can't tell much difference.  The biggest improvement in the M is that on takedown you don't have to pull the trigger to remove the slide.  Takedown on the Springfields is virtually the same on the FNs, and is childishly simple, with no pins to pull or match lines to align, which is a plus.  Both guns are a great choice, it's just a matter of personal taste to me.

By the way, one thing that happened when I shot a lot of rounds through my XD-45, is that the crud from the dirty Bullseye powder built up under the Loaded Chamber Indicator until it stayed up, showing one in the chamber even when there wasn't a round in the chamber.  When I cleaned the gun, I had to drive the roll pin out and remove the Loaded Chamber Indicator and its tiny spring to clean the powder residue out of the recess so it would go back down again.  Not a big job, but somewhat of a PITA.

The match trigger in the xdm is like soft butter to me

The XD(m) has a match barrel but it has a horrid pile of cow dung for a trigger I had one if you recall and I'm quite familiar with the gun. If you do a trigger job on it you might be shocked at just how much better you will shoot it! All of the Springfield poly pistols are tanks but their stock triggers are nearly as bad as a Glock's. Even with a good trigger job they are just up to terrible when compared to the cheapest stock 1911 on the planet...

I hear ya on the individual likes, I even liked my XD(m) after I did the trigger job on it but I had already had to shoot a few thousand rounds of 22 to get rid of the flinch I developed from that trigger. I'm not trying to pick on ya for your girl gun  just calling it what it is, I have no idea why they put match barrels in those and such poor triggers. Don't get the idea that I am partial to 1911's btw, the closest to a 1911 that I own is a tokarev.

Oh no, My girl gun has served me well and kept my ass safe in more then a couple bad deals in the last few years. So no one will hurt my feeling on what they say about them. I am just telling it how it is from my end

Have you tried a different powder then Bullseye?  Are you shooting cast bullets? Titegroup works really well in my XDM 45 with the Montanna Gold bullets. The only thing my gun didn't like so far is Oregon Trails cast bullets. Tried some test loads and gun would not go into full battery after I shot them. Cleaned afterwards and gun goes into battery. So I will stick with Montanna Golds or another plated bullet.

I just bought The 4.5 40 sw OD/Black for $529 @ gunbroker. I went back and forth between the black/black or the OD/Black and finally settled on the OD.  Can't wait until it gets here  . Does anybody else have the bi-tone?

Saturday bought springfield xdm compact 45. very smooth trigger and surprisingly accurate with is small barrell. Very happy with all my springfield pistols. I have xd 9mm and mc operator 1911. gotta love springfield.
