WSP Ferry Plan
« on: January 19, 2012, 03:30:14 PM »
http://www.komonews.com/news/local/New-law-would-restrict-bad-behavior-on-ferries-137602783.html

one of the items listed as "bad behavior" and  would be banned is... yep, Guns.

I thought the ferry system was part of the highway system... so, if they ban guns from ferries... can they then ban them from highways?

I think I need to send a letter to my legislator....

Wrong.

Before you post please read the bill:

"(f) Carries any flammable liquid, explosive, acid, or other article or material likely to cause harm to others, except that nothing in this subsection prevents a person from carrying a cigarette, cigar, or pipe lighter or carrying a firearm or ammunition in a way that is not otherwise prohibited by law"

I can see the need for this, however the way they state it with "Guns" Makes me suspicious. Here is Skagit county we had an incident on our county ferry where a young boy 12-14yr old was walking on with his shotgun to hunt on his Grandpa's place... ferry captain had a fit an didn't allow his passage. He got his But straighten out...   it could however be a veiled attempt at our rights...  :twocents:

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Where can we find the full text of that bill? The wording of the news article makes it seem like they are looking to ban guns on ferries.

NM I found it.

something smells fishy. Washington is an open carry state... so why the language? Everything in the bill is already regulated by other laws and ordinances.

and yes, I should have read the entire bill before going on what the news article reported...  :sry:
