Anyone around the Pierce county Eatonville area.
« on: January 26, 2012, 01:40:15 PM »
I'm new to coyote hunting.  But i have shot one, but it was along time ago.  I have a ton of coyotes behind my house and cant seem to get one.  Ive tried calling a few times but no luck.

I had a game cam set up during early archery elk season and had one coyote on it.  Last year I had the camera set up and have a pic of four or five pups.  So i know there back there.  They have killed three of are house cats and I'm sure all the other stray cats that use to be around.

I'm wondering to if anyone was around my area that might know more about the sport then me that might want to share some info or even go hunting.  I have a few spots around eatonville that might be promising on public land that I'm sure no one has hunted for coyote.  If anyone is interested shot me a pm.

Thank you

I live in Tacoma and would love to come help you out. I'm pretty new to coyote hunting too, but have had some success. I have an electronic call and a decoy and I would really like to learn some places locally to hunt coyotes. I've heared pack forest has some potential and I've been meaning to go scout out capital forest a bit. Anyways, let me know if you want some company on your next hunt.

not very successful around the eatonville area for me. i look for flat logging unit that seem to hold a few more coyotes or private land with large farm fields. Pack  forest is closed to hunting now so don't be caught in there with a gun. they have no problem calling the cops

it is closed to all hunting from january thru july. ask the main office. There has been signs up for the past two years saying that. For doing a lot of day hunts in this area you would think you know the rules. pretty much every gate along mountian highway states that unless someone did not like this and tore them down since two weeks ago when i was out that direction. Just trying to help you guys out

From my understanding that was only the main body off the convention building

you might want to call that number
Are you telling me you have never seen these yellow signs on the gate that state the rules
that's what it sounds like

I have always hunted pack forest.  Its only ten minutes up the road and havent heard anything about it being closed. We have walked the dogs down to the river coon hunting  in there at night all the time last year.  But i would call that number to verify.  I might just run up theremonday and talk to someone.

Ive seen those signs on the main body. Years ago on the south end i seen the signs but after talking to a student it was only because they were holding a month long study on that portion of the property.

i am not trying to pull any bodies chain here
there are signs stating that and someone ran me out of there for having a firearm in my possession last year during that time frame
the signs i believe are yellow and are around the gates
there is one of these signs along alder cutoff to along side the road not by a gate
when you run up there check the signs out. One of the signs is on the purple gate straight across from the main entrance.
