duck calls

I've blown the same duck call since I was 10 years old. Finally thinking its time to try a different call. I was wondering if anyone had some advice for what calls to try. The call that I have is super loud and I can't seem to get a quieter sound on it. Any advice?

double reed wood call, go blow them all and see which one you like the best.  I blow all Foiles calls....you can pick them up for a decent discount right now, if you dont mind the name with them.  I've had my 10 for years now and dont really have any plans on changing.

I have had calls from 10.00-200.00. Infact I have a box with about 20 calls in it up stairs that just sits. The number one call I love and use all the time is the primose wench

Echo meat hanger. Can get pretty loud when you want it to be and can be quiet when you want, again that all comes with practice. Do a littel research to. usually double reeds will tend to be a little quieter in my opinion, but it comes down to the barrel length. my nex call i want which i been pretty much putting off on getting is the short barrel by RNT, its an awesome call, can get medium high tones down to nasty quiet raw tone, buddy uses it great call for a decent price on a high end call. Dunno why i havent bought it yet.. wood also helps tone down the volume.

I love my RNT's, but I always end up using my Olt Model 66. Old as dirt, but still my favorite.

I have a double reed BGB and absolutely love the thing.  You can wail on it all you want and won't squeal a bit, or do some soft feed chuckles, no prob.  I think i spent 50 bucks on it, on sale at cabela's.  I wouldn't take anyone's word for a call though.  I think everyone is different so you need to just go blow on some and see what ya like

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think what i'll have to do is just go blow a few duck calls and find out what sounds the best. Today i had some of my coworkers bring in there duck calls and tried blowing a few different duck calls. Hopefully i can find a call that has a descent sound to it and then work on perfecting the sounds. My old call still works but it is getting worn out pretty fast the call is cracked all the way up the piece you put your mouth on. Anyway thanks for the suggestions!

i like the haydels dr-85 when it comes to cheap calls.  however i like single reeds more myself.  i was lucky enough to pick up a RNT original for 40 bucks a few weeks ago and love the thing.  of course, a quackhead(which is basically the same thing, just lower quality) will sound good enough to put their feet down anyway.  never cared much for the wench.

I have boxes full of calls.  You could try them all until you found the one you liked.  Only draw back is you would have to clean each one you try.

Mac Island calls.  Just picked one up this year and it's really good!  It's also about 1/2 the price of the RNT or Foiles calls (and sounds better).
