Eastside/Westside Permit?
« on: February 02, 2012, 02:52:38 PM »
So, I was just thinking, why doesn't the state come out with a special permit to allow elk hunting on both sides of the state?  Maybe give out a couple hundred of them? Good idea? Bad idea?

They do have that. It's called the multi-season permit. Allows you to hunt elk on both sides of the state, and all three seasons (archery, muzzleloader, modern firearm).

Multiseason permits allow this.  Are you suggesting pick a weapon and then get modern east and modern west or bow east and bow west?  Just don't get the other weapons?

Not an all weapon either side.  Just pick your weapon and you get to hunt either side.  I hate multi seaon permits because you play money to apply, then beat the odds to get drawn and still have to fork out almost 200 bucks for the tag.

I'm sure they will come out with a permit like that if they are monitoring this site and see this thread.  They never saw a permit they didn't like. ;)

Well *censored*, we better close this thread to prevent the state from committing intellectual theft!

love the multi permit. Keeps the masses in check. Unlike pick your weapon and hunt either side. We've been there, done that already 20+ years ago. Actually worse I think back then; buy elk tag hunt anywhere in state, all weapon choices at the same time. What a cluster you know what that was in the late 1970's.

Pardon my ignorance, but I have received no answer to my email to WDFW...  I understand if you get drawn for multiseason elk, you can hunt both sides.  But do you have to buy and eastside and westside tags to do so?  WDFW site seemed a bit vague on that...

No, for your $180 you will get a "multi-season" tag. You still need to pay the regular cost for the elk "license" in addition to the $180.

Ok.  Thanks.  I think that makes sense.

I guess it confused me that they refer to it as a "permit" and not a "tag".

If you are drawn for, and then purchase the multi-season tag, before special permit applications are due, then yes you can apply for any hunt, doesn't matter the method or what side of the state.

Just pay the 180 bucks for the multi season tag, after you put in 6.50 and get drawn  :bash: :bash: :bash:

Hahahaha! Thats the way it's looking, can't wait to see how many new permit pools will be out this year. You sure can tell there's a buck in it for them when it comes to permits. ;)
