River Otter Season! Whos Trapping Western WA?
« on: February 06, 2012, 07:10:53 PM »
Ok, so after a little research it appears the annoying river otter that is destroying my trout pond, has more options than I do. Is there someone out there near Kitsap County that is licensed and traps otter? I would love for you to get a nice big pelt. Email me at mtotemeier@hotmail.com with subject line otter and I'll likely let you come trap my property.

Any luck on getting rid of your troublemaker?  I am planning on taking the trapping class specifically so I can trap otters.  They left me about two pounds of poo last week in my boat!   :puke:

Go to the F&G and get a permit. You can get a live trap from them. Find the area the otter is using to get access to your pond. I would put up chicken wire around the pond. Then place the trap in a opening in the fence. camo it with brush and fish oil to mask your sent. Thats what I would do. :chuckle: I bagged a coon that way. He was eatting all my Koi and Goldfish. I haven't had one come back ever since I killed the one.

You don't need a permit if it is on your own land.

I might take you up on that if I wasn't so crippled up right now. By the time I get better I imagine the season will be over.

I would love to give you the location.  Those fish eating SOB's...  They are sitting on a darn nice steelhead hole as well.
