Sweet.  Is that a 7mm WSM?
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Way smaller! 6.5-47 Lapua. Am I missing something? Travis spins the barrels from what I gather, not Jesse. From what I have been told Travis is the "Smith" ,there seams to be some confusion around about that, I've heard several discussing it. Maybe Travis will put the question to rest here. I can see how from the OP above?

"Travis and Jesse built"

So which is the "Smith" if R-Bro's does a rifle? Who is doing the metal work Travis or Jesse?

My daughter's rifle is a 6.5x47Lapua. The lefty action will be the same. The front of the 2 is also a 6.5x47 Lapua and the back one is a 338 Lapua.

Does it really matter?  It is built by R-bros.  I know Travis is the guy I dealt with when I dropped the gun off and who I talk with on the phone.

Yes, it does matter. When I send the parts to Mike Bryant to build a custom I know Mike Bryant is building it. I also know Mike Bryants skill and reputation carries him. That's who I expect to do my metal work. Many guys send rifles to GAP but request their preference in the particular GAP smith to do the build. I'm not one to stuff parts in a box send it off and say it doesn't matter who builds it and I know for  a fact many other others feel as I do.

Also the majority of people doing builds now days, considering their first custom rifle or choosing  a new smith. Do some research on the guy in control of the business end of the chamber reamer.

" Does it matter" Never comes into play when I'm having custom work done. May work for you but not for me. all of it matters big time to me.

I don't care who builds my gun, as long as it shoots.  I did a lot of research before I settled on Travis and RBros.  Longrangehunting and snipershide all had good reviews.

There are plenty of rifles that will shoot but they are handicapped by the dumb ass driving them. ;)

Every rifle R-bros has built that I've seen , shot, or owned is crazy accurrate.
They are the WA state premier rifle builder and do a tremendous amount to support the shooting community.
They are avid shooters and top tier tactical rifle competitors.
You will be very happy with your build.

Nice to see the bolt handles on the correct side of the rifle!
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

Haven't figured this out yet, does RBros sponsor your shoot or do you work in advertisement for RBros.  ;) We all know Travis can shoot :) Either way this state has several hotrod smith.

Wow, this has turned back into a JTP and Landon pissing match!

Lets clear the air here a little.

1: I (Travis) do all the smithing at R Bros.  I involved my brother Jesse in the business to help with the website and mainly, because he is my brother and that is just the way it is.  He helps out occasionally on some small stuff, but at this point in time, if you buy an R Bros built rifle, I built it.  Eventually we will both be doing the builds.  His value is in the website maint., promotion and shooting at this point.

2:  How do I support the sport....lets see.  Here are a few the matches that I have sponsored:

Findlay Cup
NW Multigun Challenge
MGM Ironman
ITRC
Snipershide Cup
Norcal

3: More importantly, we do shooting clinics for FREE, and every year I send 3 kids via scholarships to the MGM Junior Camp in Idaho, RO at matches that I don't shoot in, donate a ton of money and time to try to get shooting programs up and running.

4:  Unlike other "premier" builders, everyone of my builds is test fired, broken in, and checked for accuracy before the customer ever puts his hands on it.  They are provided with load data and a test target that shows the rifle accuracy.  If anyone is in question to my shooting ability, there are plenty of people that will back it up, including the Savage F Class guy mentioned in the other thread.  You would be surprised that most "premier" builders don't even test fire the weapon to make sure it goes bang.

5:  All my builds are guaranteed to shoot 1/2moa or less by ME.  That is the important part, because there are alot of people that are starting out that are no where close to being a 1/2moa shooter.   This is under field conditions, bipod, rear bag in the dirt, no bench testing.

6:  If anyone is in question to my shooting ability, there are plenty of people that will back it up, including the Savage F Class guy mentioned in the other thread.

7: JTP does not work for me, nor does he get any kind of compensation on his builds.  What is the difference if someone is showing off their gear, no matter who built it.  We could say the same thing about Biggerhammer....does he work for Benchmark in their advertising?

My work speaks for itself.  I don't ask anyone to post up builds for me and I generally just post pics so guys can look at rifles.  Thats kinda the point of the forum.....to look at rifles!   As to the other thread where a guy is saying they are to expensive.  Look around at other builders.  The chances of having a factory Savage that will hold 1/2moa at 600 is rare.  The fact of the matter is, I have worked on the Team Savage guys F Class rifles to make them more accurate.  They just didn't come that way from Savage.   Keep in mind, just because the rifle is accurate as hell, doesn't mean the shooter is.  I have seen guys that couldn't shoot worth crap, and a super accurate rifle won't help them out at all.

Now, that should clear the air and let things get back to normal.

Travis

Afterthoughts.....keep in mind.  When we started R Bros, it was only supposed to be a hobby to pay for our shooting and match fees.  The business has grown into a manufacturer now with our own receivers and stock designs as well.  We have a couple LE contracts and have rifles all over the US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and serving in Afghan/Irag and Mexico.  All this was purely on word of mouth from satisfied clients.  Think about it, 95% of the builts are shipped out of state or country.  Of the 300+ rifles built in the last 6 years, 15 of them were for guys in Washington.  Until last year, we didn't do any advertising at all.  We were forced into advertising on one forum, and signed up for another.  That is the only advertising that is done other than sponsoring matches.  The business was built purely off the performance of the rifles themselves.  Plain and simple.  There are other smiths out there....its your money and only you can choose where you are going to spend it.

Excellent post Travis, all else aside you answered my simple question rather well. Several years ago I had heard of you. Tried to contact you but no reply and your web site was under construction for some time, non of the links worked.

I had never heard of you until then, I think I heard your name from one of the young guys that Jim hung out with. I've never looked at one of your rifles personally. I know a PILE of guys that have Benchmark built stuff that flat shoot and they have been around for a long time. Same as for PAC-Nor in Oregon. Great people, great barrels, great metal work.

Maybe a site sponsor in the future?
