I can't believe that there are people actually advocating MORE taxes/fees for the government rather than trying to get rid of the ones we have now. Apparently some people think ridiculous taxes/fees are perfectly fine, as long as it is someone else paying them. :bash:

Amen.  More taxes/fees is more taxes/fees, however you look at it, however they want to dress it up.  But I guess that since it's "harsh reality" and "the law"  (even though taxation is specifically prohibited in the Constitution), we should just roll over and take it because the state can't spend the money we ALREADY give them, wisely.

Me: "Hey boss, I spent all the money you gave me from my last paycheck, I need you to give me some more so I can sustain my unsustainable lifestyle"
Boss: "GTFO"

bikes dont burn fossil fuels but they still use rubber, still need roads and bike lanes. We pay millions of dollars for them to pedal around, without paying a F'n dime. We pay for the roads and bike lanes for them through car tabs and taxes on gas.  I think its time they either pay up also or walk cause atleast when they walk they are off the road a car or truck paid for.

My thoughts exactly. Plus, bicycle riders are the rudest, most arrogant people. They have a bicycle rally here and those POS won't get out of the way. They take up half the lanes so cars can't get around them. They are to busy talking to each other thinking of ways to screwup our fun. I say, Run 'em over, if it was legal, if they don't obey the laws. I hate bicyclists with a passion.

We had to have a license for our bikes when I was young. With all the tax revenue being spent on bicycle lanes, I'd be in favor of a bike license as long as the money went toward bike lanes and their enforcement.

Obviously having tabs on bicycles is nothing new. While we're at it, they should have to "buy" new plates every couple of years like cars and trucks.

A person buys one of those electric cars in order to save on gas and help the environment. Seem's like I read someplace where the government is gonna make those people pay some kinda fee for owning an electric car now!! What's with that?!! A person can't do anything now days without having to pay out the a$$ for it. :bash: :bash:

Yakima Hearold has an article today . looks like $100 per year extra fee for electric cars that don't burn any gas. Those that don't go over 35mph are exempt.

You might be able to get a refund if you send in a copy of your discovery pass. It's worth the 44 cent stamp to find out.

This all started when we nixed the absorbent car tabs. Since that time law makers have been thinking of ways of working around this this little speed bump. Don't be surprised when they try and install a GPS on every vehicle to track the mileage and bill you x number of cents per mile. Better yet watch out when they will start making mandatory yearly car inspections where they right down youur vehicle mileage and bill you for both the inspection and the mileage you drive.

I am also for the Discover Pass and the WDFW "Use" fees for people that are otherwise (hunting and fishing license purchasers) not supporting the resources and infrastructure that they are enjoying and using.

I think you have a typo there. I agree non sportsman should pay for a WDFW use fee but sportsman should not have to buy a Discover pass. There is a little thing called the Pittman Robertson Act that levies a Federal Excise tax against firearms, ammunition, and sporting goods. This tax goes into a fund that is then later redistributed to the states to pay for wildlife habitat restoration, hunter education, and conservation projects. It's actually we the sportsman promoting conservation and restoring habitat and we are the ones paying to support the infrastructure and resources.

On the same token, I don't think its correct to force people to pay for a parking permit on federal forest lands. This land is owned by the citizens of the United States and why should you have to pay for parking on lands owned by US Citizens? It does not make sense.

Discover pass is state lands not federal forests.  :twocents:

No typo there Brown, I support fees for people that do not purchase a hunting or fishing license.  I've been paying into Pittman - Robertson for  about forty years....

The bottom line is, if you utilize a recreation area, state or Fed, you should have to pay something for the upkeep.

The "normal" taxes won't pay enough to keep the areas in good repair and neat, like we like to see them.  If EVERYONE would do their part and live by the rule, "if you brought it in, you take it out when you go, and leave the area as good or better than you found it", there would not be such a high price for the upkeep.  Someone has to clean up after the 'pigs' who mess up the areas and vandalize them, and, like I said, the 'normal' taxes are not enough.  The maintenance materials need to be paid for from somewhere.  Either that or close the rec. areas down.

Ahhh But there is the RUB Wildsau.. The $$$ WE put in goes to the PARKS not the area we use the most... This is a strong arm tactic to get one group, hunters, to pay for another goup (park users) services. FACT hunters pay to hunt and for access, and do it regularly. FACT Parks users that use the daily use are not willing to pay, evidence is past parking fee attempt. The state needs to make some decisions and get to it...

Couldn't agree with you more. What I find annoying is when you pull into a WDFW access point to do some fishing and someone is parked right where you want to fish, throwing the tennis ball for the dog with no access decal on their vehicle.
