I read about 2 dozen reviews and about 100 posts on other forums.  (0% loved them and of the 10% that hated them, they were Gen 1 models from 2007/08.  They are selling Gen 3 models now so I'd assume the bugs have been worked out.

Wish I knew someone that had one she could shoot.  I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate gun ranges where you rent the guns.  Guys that work there are ALWAYS jerks that know more than you, even if they don't, and when you walk in and say, "I'd like to rent such and such a gun to see how it shoots." they ALWAYS say, "You would like this gun much better.  It only costs twice as much but, you can't put a price on your life. etc. etc. etc".  And HOLY CRAP if you ever disagree with them.  I'd just like to take her to some woods and let her pull the trigger a few times.

Sorry bud, wish I could help! Did she handle the s&w sigma at all?
What would life be without the thrill of the hunt?

No, but the dimensions, operation, and maintenance are almost identical to my Glock 19 so she has basically handled it.

Mary's Pistols in Tacoma may have suggestions as to where a rental Kahr may be availible in the south end. Well worth calling her. I've never had good luck with a taurus in any caliber, but she would cut you a deal on one. Agree 100% on your impression of gun shop people, they are different there. Be patient, small shop.....Great selection of used! and new pistols, personal, and personable nearly unbeatable service. She caters to women in general and kind wives in particular. Be prepared to wait up to an hour inside to be served.

If I was going to suggest a defense handgun for anyone, it would be a revolver. Give her a full size wheel gun and load it with .38 special.

5 or 6 rounds versus 14-17?
What would life be without the thrill of the hunt?

Top of post, please, small hands, G-19 is too big. 5 shot SS S&W .38spl, but then again it's not my money. I got my X a .22 mag NAA mini revolver and a .22mag derringer. I am just kidding around about the next part, but it does bear considering, as fickle as fate may be!  Figured I'd have a better chace of survival with 7 .22's in me than 17 9mm's or 8 .45's or 6 .38's. Remember I was Just Kidding about the last part.

Bear spray she wont be afraid to use it and I think I'd rather get shot :)
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

I just know my wife and she would hesitate to pull the trigger of a pistol, her mace can on the other hand stand back.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

My wife was violently raped 11.5 years ago.  That hesitation won't be there.  Hell, half the time, I think she's looking for a reason. :chuckle:

Double J, I didn't see it in any of the previous posts, but my girlfriend also has tiny hands so we have been trying to find something to fit her as well. She really likes the ruger SR9C, and to be honest I like it as well. It is small enough to fit her hand yet still comfortable in mine. Some places may have it for a little over 500 but it shouldn't be much. Just thought I would offer up some info for ya. I'm sure you guys will make the best choice for her.
