More Chehalis river success!
« on: February 26, 2012, 03:18:23 PM »
Went out this morning for a few hours and managed to get a 8 lb native, sorry no pic  :chuckle: I know this thread is useless without it but when Im by myself I have a hard time keepen the fish in the water, searching for my camera, snapping a pic and holding my rod all at the same time so I don't even worry about it when its a nate. Fishen was pretty slow but still fun.
Has anyone heard a recent report on the skook, besides way to many people and not enough fish?

Skook, last Saturday, well over fifty fisherman from the deadline to cable crossing.  I only saw two fish on the bank in the three hours that I was there.

50???  I counted 80 rigs on my way out of the valley lol.  Fishing sucked big time.

I went this morning.  I hooked up once and lost it.  Couple of boys banked 3 and one was pretty big red buck but he took it.  Then some lucky guy walked up cast first time and banked a nice buck.  First steelhead too..

It can get a bit crowded there, especially when a lot of the other popular rivers are out of shape.  I always get a good chuckle when I fish it.  You will see everything from spey rods to side-planers.

and to think around 10 years ago the place would have no more than a handful of guys fishing it on an average day.  goes to show what happens when we have a population explosion and the puget sound rivers all get shut down early every year.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

Been fishing there my whole life, I blame the internet and magazines "mapping" the rivers more than anything.  It used to be quite the little gem now it is a mini cowlitz.  :bash: :bash:
