Looking at purchasing a Tikka T3 30-06 in the next couple of weeks. What are the members opinion of stainless vs blue?

I think stainless is good if you hunt in a lot of rain. If not I don't think it matters much. My two big game rifles are not stainless and I have never had an issue with rust. What's the price difference?

Good choice in picking the 30-06. You really can't beat it.

Hey Bobcat, good talking with you tonight. The last quote I got was about $50 more. Not that big of a deal. Being new to NE I am not sure it matters but, I am leaning towards Stainless. I sure do like the looks of blue. Might have something to do with having some of Gramps' guns since he is no longer with us.

They do make a Tikka T3 in blue and walnut.  It is called the Hunter and it is about the same price as a SS T3 synthetic.

I'm a stainless guy, I was put out when I couldn't get my daughters 243 Model 7 with the 18 inch barrel in stainless.  My next barrel will be wrapped in Carbon though.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

For a hard use hunting rifle, stainless. For a casual shooter I love blued steel and walnut.

You could split the difference and go stainless in laminate wood, then have the barrel Nitrided to give the look of blued steel.
